Are any lightning lanes free?

Lightning Lane access isn't free. It comes as a perk when you purchase Genie+. And if you're wondering about Genie versus Lightning Lane, Disney Genie only provides tips to help you avoid lines. Lightning Lane grants you access to entirely separate queues.

No, there are no "free" Lightning Lanes at Disney Parks anymore. The era of the free "FastPass" ended with the introduction of the Disney Genie+ system (now rebranded as Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Lightning Lane Single Pass). To use the Lightning Lane entrance for an attraction, you must pay a daily fee that varies based on the date and the park's demand. The "Multi Pass" gives you access to a variety of popular rides, while the "Single Pass" is an a la carte purchase for the most "E-ticket" attractions, like Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance or Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind. These individual purchases can range anywhere from $10 to $25 per person, per ride. While the Disney Genie app itself provides a "free" service that suggests itineraries based on predicted wait times, it only directs you to the standard Standby lines. If you want to skip the line using the Lightning Lane, you will have to pay for the privilege, making it a significant additional cost for families visiting the parks.
