Are cane seats allowed in Disney World?

In general, canes are allowed as mobility devices to be brought into the Walt Disney World Resort theme parks. Although a folding cane is not specifically listed as one of the prohibited items in the Walt Disney World Resort Property Rules, folding chairs are listed.

According to Disney's official property rules in 2026, folding chairs are strictly prohibited in the theme parks, which initially led to confusion regarding "cane seats" (canes that unfold into a small tripod stool). While standard canes and walking sticks are perfectly fine and encouraged for those with mobility needs, the "seat" version is often a grey area. Security Cast Members have the discretion to prohibit them if they believe the seat function could cause a tripping hazard in crowded queues or if it resembles a "folding chair." However, many guests successfully bring them in by declaring them as a medical necessity for a condition that prevents standing for long periods. If you are denied entry with a cane seat, Disney offers several better alternatives: you can rent a wheelchair or an Electric Conveyance Vehicle (ECV) at the front of every park, and almost all attraction queues are designed to be "handicapped accessible," allowing you to stay in your wheelchair or ECV until the boarding point. For most, a standard cane is the safest bet to avoid a "disruptive item" denial at the security checkpoint.
