Are Disney annual passes based on calendar year?

Prior to using your Annual Pass, the expiration date will be listed as one year from the date of purchase, but as soon as you enter a Walt Disney World theme park for the first time using your Annual Pass, that expiration date will switch to one year from that date of first use.

At minimum, guests will need to visit at least 6 times (as long as they park hop) or 9 times (if they don't park hop) to get their money's worth on the highest level pass. If you are satisfied with one trip to Disney World in a year, the Annual Pass might not provide enough value to be worth the major spend.

Annual Passes can be renewed up to 60 days before and 30 days after expiration. Though the Annual Pass owner does not need to be present for renewal, each Annual Pass owner will need to be present at the ticket window to receive his or her pass.
