Are Disney tickets transferable if not used?

If you have not yet used a ticket, you may transfer it to another person. You may also buy a new theme park ticket online or at the theme park Main Entrance. We ask that you review our Walt Disney World Resort park rules before your visit to avoid any delays or disruptions.

Yes, Disney theme park tickets (for both Walt Disney World and Disneyland) are generally transferable only if they have never been used. As of 2026, once a ticket has been used for its first day of admission, it is "finger-linked" or photo-linked to that specific individual and cannot be given to anyone else, even if there are remaining days left on a multi-day pass. If you have a completely unused ticket, you can "reassign" it to another person in your "Family & Friends" list via the My Disney Experience or Disneyland app. This is done by navigating to the "Tickets and Passes" section and selecting the "Reassign" link next to the unused ticket. This is particularly helpful for families who need to swap a ticket for a different family member before the trip starts. However, it is critical to remember that once the "expiration date" on a ticket has passed, it is no longer valid or transferable. If you have an expired, unused ticket, the "cash value" can often be applied toward the purchase of a new ticket at a guest services window, but it cannot be refunded as cash.

People Also Ask

The amount paid for an unused, expired ticket may be applied towards the purchase of a new ticket at the current price so long as the new ticket purchase price is equal to or greater than the amount paid for the original ticket. Unless otherwise stated, tickets are not valid for separately priced activities or events.
