Are Disney wristbands transferable?

Once a MagicBand+, MagicBand or card is linked to your Disney account, it cannot be transferred to another person for use at the Walt Disney World Resort.

In 2026, Disney MagicBands and MagicBand+ devices are not transferable once they have been linked to a specific person's "MyDisney" or "My Disney Experience" account. When you first set up the wristband, it becomes digitally married to your individual profile, including your theme park tickets, hotel room key access, and PhotoPass images. Disney uses a "Ticket Tag" biometric system (fingerprint scan) or facial recognition at the park entrances to ensure that the person wearing the band is the same person who owns the linked admission. While you can technically physically hand the band to someone else, they will not be able to use it to enter the parks or charge purchases to your room, as those actions require biometric verification or a personal PIN. If you have an unlinked, brand-new MagicBand still in its original packaging, you can give it to someone else as a gift, but once that initial pairing process is completed, the band is permanently assigned to that user for the life of the product.

According to my experience, the battery inside the MagicBand is designed to last for up to two years or more, so you can use your MagicBand for more than one Walt Disney World vacation. In your case, the battery in your MagicBand is 5-6 years old, so it might not be functional.

Does my toddler need a MagicBand? If your toddler is under three they do not need a ticket and therefore do not need a MagicBand. Children 3 and over will need tickets, park reservations and their own LL/Genie+ reservations, so a MagicBand would be useful, but is not necessary. See below for other options.
