Ride wait times for popular rides, like roller coasters, often mean long lines, but that isn't always the case. Just like other theme parks, the flow of visitors changes throughout the entire park depending on the time of day, day of the week, and weather.

Visit on a Lighter Day Generally, you'll find Dollywood is most crowded in summer and fall. While going to Dollywood in the low season is ideal, visiting on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday during summer is the best way to dodge crowds and long lines.

Drop Line is a 230-ft. tall free-fall experience. It towers over Timber Canyon and provides an incredible view of the park before an exhilarating finish. there are large rides in each area, but again the layout makes it impossible to re-do several of your favorites with out having to walk forever. in a 10 hour span we walked almost 22,000 steps (9 miles). a tiring day to say the least.

Overall, summer and fall are busier times to visit the Smokies and the cooler times of year like winter and spring see fewer crowds. While you may dislike crowds, this also shows that most people enjoy exploring the mountains and seeing attractions in warmer, dryer weather.

In the early spring, for example, we are open, but many families don't travel until spring break, so we are closed on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Then, during the busiest spring break period, we are open every day. During the summer, we are open every day. The best piece of advice is to check the calendar before you visit.
