Are SBB trains covered by the SwissPass?

With the GA Travelcard for 1st or 2nd class you are always ready to travel. You can enjoy unlimited travel on SBB trains and those of most other railways, as well as on much of the public transport in Switzerland. Your GA Travelcard comes on the SwissPass.

It is important to distinguish between the SwissPass (a red plastic card used mainly by residents for subscriptions) and the Swiss Travel Pass (the popular all-in-one ticket for tourists). The Swiss Travel Pass provides unlimited travel on all SBB (Swiss Federal Railways) trains, as well as most other private railway lines, buses, and boats throughout the country. This includes world-famous scenic routes like the Glacier Express and Bernina Express (though you still must pay for a seat reservation on those). Local city transit (trams and buses) is also fully covered. However, "high-mountain" excursions like the train to the Jungfraujoch or the Gornergrat in Zermatt are typically not fully covered; the pass usually grants a 25% to 50% discount on those specific mountain legs. For the standard visitor in 2026, the Swiss Travel Pass is the "magic key" that allows you to hop on almost any train in the country without buying individual tickets, making it the most convenient way to explore Switzerland.
