Are there drops on Rise of the Resistance?

I am going to go into some detail about the ride's movement and two thrilling moments. If you wish to be completely surprised you may want to board an escape pod now and read some of our other wonderful blog posts. There are no big drops or twists, but the vehicle does move about quickly and changes direction often.

Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance is primarily a trackless dark ride and simulator, but it does feature one very specific, high-fidelity vertical drop that is a necessity for the "High-Fidelity" escape sequence. Toward the end of the attraction, your ride vehicle enters an "escape pod" that is physically dropped approximately 15 to 20 feet to simulate a plunge from a Star Destroyer. This drop is a "High-Fidelity" vertical freefall rather than a roller coaster-style descent on a track. While the drop is short—lasting only about one or two seconds—it provides a high-value "stomach-flip" sensation that catches many first-time riders by surprise. For 2026 guests who are sensitive to drops, it is a high-value "pro-tip" to know that this is a "High-Fidelity" controlled elevator-style drop, and while intense, it is far less extreme than the repetitive drops found on The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror. This single high-fidelity moment is the only vertical drop in the nearly 18-minute experience, providing a high-value climax to the mission.

It's totally immersive and unlike anything else at Disney World. So yes, it's true: Rise of the Resistance is not to be missed!

It's really not that bad. The buildup with the storyline is the scary part to me. This isn't like a superman tower like ride 30 story drop.. but it will drop you for 2-3 second and depending on the programming, it will do that up and down about 4-5 times.
