All Intercity trains are equipped with toilets. Signs are provided on the walls to indicate the locations of the toilets. Longer trains will have several toilets available.
Passenger trains usually have toilets, and the on-board lavatory takes many forms. The simplest train toilets are those called Drop Chute Toilets or Hopper Toilets.
Where a trolley service is available, it is limited to hot and cold drinks and a range of snacks. Many Intercity trains have a bistro or buffet car that offers cold and hot snacks, soft drinks and alcoholic beverages, usually with the option to sit down at a table.
ICE trains are the flag-ship trains of Deutsche Bahn. They are the fastest (up to 300km/h) and most comfortable trains. There are international ICE services to most neighboring countries. IC trains are often older, slightly less comfortable long-distance trains.
There is typically one bathroom per train car on Italian trains. On newer trains, and especially high-speed trains, they are more spacious than what you might find on an airplane and offer the same basic features as those of a plane lavatory - a flushable toilet, sink with running water, soap, and paper towels.

Bringing Your Food AboardYou may bring your own food and beverages onboard for consumption at your seat or private Sleeping Car accommodations. However, you can only consume food and beverages purchased in Dining and Lounge Cars in those cars.
(1) ICE trains – all of which travel on a high speed line for at least part of a journey. There are now five different types of ICE train which operate on different routes within Germany. (2) IC trains – long distance express trains that tend to be slower than ICE trains because they rarely use the high speed lines.
Amtrak locomotives have facilities that cannot be accessed by passengers. Sleeping car bedrooms have individual bathrooms that are for their occupants only. The Dining car has a bathroom on the lower level for crew only.
