Are there Ubers in Isle of Skye?

Taxi Companies We highly recommend booking taxis' in advance, Uber does not operate on Skye.

As of 2026, Uber does not operate on the Isle of Skye. The ride-sharing giant focuses primarily on major Scottish urban centers like Edinburgh, Glasgow, and Aberdeen. On Skye, the remote geography and low population density make the app-based model impractical. Visitors must rely on traditional local taxi firms (which often require booking by phone in advance), the Stagecoach bus network, or, most commonly, a rental car to navigate the island's scenic but narrow single-track roads. If you are arriving by train at Kyle of Lochalsh, it is highly recommended to arrange your onward transport before you land, as finding a "walk-up" taxi at the station can be difficult during the busy peak tourist season.
