Are you allowed to take photos at Disneyland?

The general policy of the Disneyland Resort is to allow Photos and Video to be taken, unless directed otherwise at specific attractions. The following list will talk about Disneyland, California Adventure, Downtown Disney and the Hotels. There are a couple of basic policies that can be found at certain attractions.

Yes, photography and videography for personal, non-commercial use are highly encouraged at Disneyland Resort. However, there are strict rules to ensure guest safety and the "Disney Magic." In 2026, the most significant restriction is the ban on selfie sticks and handheld extension poles, which are not allowed inside the parks. Tripods and monopods are permitted only if they can fit inside a standard backpack and do not exceed 6 feet (182 cm) when fully extended. You are generally allowed to take photos on most slow-moving rides, but flash photography is strictly prohibited on dark rides like Pirates of the Caribbean or Haunted Mansion to avoid ruining the experience for others. Some high-intensity thrill rides forbid all loose items, including cameras. Commercial photography, professional equipment (like lighting rigs), and drone use are strictly forbidden without prior written authorization from Disney's media relations department.
