Technically, UK citizens and residents do not qualify for a "Eurail" pass; instead, they are eligible for the Interrail pass. While both passes are managed by the same organization (Eurail B.V.) and offer nearly identical benefits, Interrail is specifically designated for European residents, including those in the United Kingdom, even after Brexit. As of 2026, the Interrail Global Pass allows UK travelers unlimited train travel across 33 participating European countries. The primary difference is that Interrail includes an "Inbound/Outbound" journey rule, allowing residents to use the pass for one trip to leave their home country and one trip to return. If a UK citizen were to live outside of Europe (for example, in the United States) for more than six months, they would then qualify to purchase a Eurail pass instead. For practical purposes, the pricing, participating train networks, and the requirement for seat reservations on high-speed or night trains are identical for both Interrail and Eurail users.
