As of 2026, U.S. citizens can enter Turkey visa-free for short-term tourism or business stays. This policy allow Americans with ordinary passports to remain in the country for up to 90 days within any 180-day period. The previous requirement for an e-Visa or "sticker" visa for short visits has been waived to encourage travel and strengthen diplomatic ties. However, this exemption only applies to leisure and business; if you plan to work, study, or stay longer than 90 days, you must apply for the appropriate long-term visa at a Turkish consulate before your trip. Travelers must also ensure their passport is valid for at least six months beyond their entry date and contains at least one blank page for stamps. While the entry itself is free, standard customs regulations regarding the import of goods and foreign currency still apply.
