Can dogs go to Great Sand Dunes National Park?

Pets are permitted in the Preserve (including Mosca Pass Trail) and main use areas of the Park (including Piñon Flats Campground, Dunes Overlook Trail, and along the Medano Pass Primitive Road). Pets must be leashed at all times and owners must clean up after them. Please carry out all waste.

Dogs ARE ONLY WELCOME on the 3-mile paved multi-use bluff trail on the coastal side of Pacific Coast Highway, in parking lots, on the ramps, or on any paved surfaces, and must be kept on a leash at all times. Dogs are NOT PERMITTED on any of the backcountry hiking trails, on the beach, or at the Beachcomber Café.
