Can I add known traveler number to already booked flight?

How do I add my Known Traveler Number (KTN) to previous reservations? Contact your airline by phone or online to add your Known Traveler Number (KTN).

Yes, you can absolutely add your Known Traveler Number (KTN) to a flight that has already been booked. In 2026, most major airlines—including Delta, United, and American—allow you to do this via their mobile app or website under the "Manage Trip" or "View Reservation" section. You simply find the "Passenger Information" or "Edit Traveler Details" field and enter your 9-digit KTN. It is important to do this as soon as possible, as the TSA requires this data to be transmitted well before departure to generate the "TSA PreCheck" indicator on your boarding pass. If you forget to do it before check-in, you can often still add it at the airport kiosk or by speaking to a gate agent. However, the name on your reservation must exactly match the name associated with your KTN; if there is a spelling error or a missing middle name, the system will reject the number, and you will be stuck in the standard security line regardless of your membership status.
