Can I bring a fanny pack to Great America?

California's Great America is committed to providing a safe environment for all of our guests and associates. All guests arriving at the park are electronically scanned with a handheld wand and/or metal detector. Guests are also asked to open any backpacks, purses or waist packs for a brief examination.

The following behaviors or acts are not permitted at California's Great America: Carrying firearms, ammunition, knives and weapons of any kind and any other prohibited item. California's Great America reserves the right to prohibit any items at their discretion.

You can even wear it on rides. A fanny pack is still considered a “bag,” so you will still need to go through the bag check line when entering any theme park or water park, but rest assured your fanny pack will be welcome! Some attractions, especially coasters, have a small net pocket on the back of the seat in front of you for storing your bag. Rock-n-Roller Coaster is one example of an attraction that uses this method. With this attraction, you would not be able to fit a large backpack in the net, but you could fit a small purse.

Every day is a great day to visit! But, if you are worried about long lines and crowds, plan to visit the park when attendance is lightest. Best bets: weekdays during the summer and any regular operating day during the months of May, June and September.
