However, all other large items (purses, camera bags, backpacks, etc.) must go inside the ride locker. At each of these locker stations, there are two different sizes: standard and large lockers.

Hi there, Adrian, Guests of the Disneyland Resort are allowed to take outside food and non-alcoholic beverages with them. Refillable water bottles are also allowed, even metal bottles like the brand you have. One of my favorite refillable water bottles is an insulated metal bottle that I got at the Disneyland Resort.
Guests can purchase a Universal refillable cup at participating locations and then refill beverages at participating locations for $1.49 plus tax. Yes, but you have to pay for them ($6 as of 2023). So take your own to avoid having to rent Volcano Bay towels. Hotels don't want you to take their room towels to the water park, so I highly recommend traveling with thin linen towels. I talk more about these in my packing post.
Make sure you've got strong swimmers if you plan to do the Ohno and Ohyah drop slides. These two body slides plunge into a 10-foot-deep pool! Volcano Bay does not provide any free towels, so be sure to bring your own if you do not want to rent them (it costs $7).
As many have answered above, some rides you can not have any loose items including a shoulder bag. There are lockers provided, which are free for a couple of hours, but mind you they are quite small, a typical cubicle, so I recommend bringing only a small bag.
