Random Ticket/ID ChecksFollowing federal Transportation Security Administration (TSA) guidelines, we regularly conduct random ticket verification checks onboard trains to ensure that passengers are properly ticketed. Please be prepared to show valid photo identification to a member of the onboard crew upon request.
One eTicket All TravelersUse only one eTicket for a group of up to 8 passengers under the same reservation and for all of your travel segments — there's no need for separate tickets for each traveler or leg of your trip.
If you entered the wrong name you might need to change your reservation and rebook your trip. In case you purchased a restrictive fare, you might lose it as super-economy fares which are the most restriuctive, do not allow changes.
Minor errors do not invalidate citations. They can be amended in court. If it is the completely wrong name the judge may throw it out. You will have to appear in court for that to happen, though.
Some airlines allow one free correction per ticket.Others will charge a “correction fee” or a “change fee” that can range from $50 to $200. If you wind up cancelling your flight and rebooking it under your new name, there might be charges as well.

Can I use my railcard to buy a ticket for someone else? Many railcards allow you to buy tickets for people who are travelling with you. You cannot buy tickets with a railcard discount and give them to someone who will be travelling alone without a railcard.

Can I choose a specific seat? Not while you're making a reservation. Your seat will be automatically assigned when you complete your reservation. You may change your assigned seat at any time after your booking is complete using interactive seat maps on the Amtrak app or on Amtrak.com.
Yes.You must show your valid Network Railcard (digital or plastic) when you buy your ticket and travel on the train. Failure to present a valid Railcard will mean you have to pay a full fare or you may on certain services be liable for a Penalty Fare.
While not nearly as expensive, taking an Amtrak train across the US is also largely the domain of rail enthusiasts as it takes multiple days and costs significantly more than flying. In countries like Japan, South Korea and much of Europe, the opposite is true as the train is simply a way to travel larger distances.
You may bring your own food and beverages onboard for consumption at your seat or private Sleeping Car accommodations. However, you can only consume food and beverages purchased in Dining and Lounge Cars in those cars. Personal food and beverages are allowed in the upper level of Superliner Sightseer Lounges.
