Pros and Cons of Lyft and UberThere are some key differences between Uber and Lyft. Uber can be less expensive than Lyft for the average journey—research suggests that Uber is the cheaper company, with the average trip costing $20 compared with the $27 you would spend for an average Lyft trip.
There is no reason for your driver to know your full name, address or any other personal information. Both Uber and Lyft use technology that keeps your personal details safe. Even if you need to call your driver before they arrive, your number is hidden.
Lyft uses your phone's location services to give you a great ride experience. We only access your location if the Lyft app is running on your phone. If you close the app, we won't access that info.
As outlined in our Community Guidelines, no one other than the requesting rider and the rider's guests are permitted in the vehicle. This means that friends and family of drivers may not ride in their vehicle during a trip. See our Community Guidelines for more details.
If you're using your Uber account for the Uber family profiles for your children to request a ride, they must still be accompanied by an adult to be allowed to ride.
