There's so much to see and do at Dollywood. Since you'll likely be there all day (or two), a backpack is probably one of the best bags to bring if you must bring something. Rock-n-Roller Coaster is one example of an attraction that uses this method. With this attraction, you would not be able to fit a large backpack in the net, but you could fit a small purse.
I like to use a small backpack-style purse or cross-body bag when I visit the Walt Disney World theme parks. Many guests use drawstring-style bags, as well; however, I personally prefer something with separate pockets or compartments. I find it keeps my belongings organized and easy to locate.

Spring and Winter are less visited seasons at Dollywood. Generally, you'll find Dollywood is most crowded in summer and fall. While going to Dollywood in the low season is ideal, visiting on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday during summer is the best way to dodge crowds and long lines.
Dollywood does not permit visitors to bring food or drinks into the park, although attendees are welcome to leave to eat elsewhere and return that same day. Otherwise, a variety of excellent options for dining and snacks are available onsite.
