Can I use Suica for Narita Skyliner?

Skyliner : Fares from Major Stations The Skyliner fare will be 2,465 yen when using an approved IC card (PASMO or SUICA, etc.) at the ticket gate.

You can use your Suica card to pay for the "Base Fare" (the basic transport fee) of the Narita Skyliner, but you cannot use it to cover the mandatory "Limited Express" surcharge and seat reservation. The Skyliner is an all-reserved, premium express train operated by Keisei Electric Railway. To ride it, you need two things: a basic ticket and a seat reservation ticket. If you tap your Suica at the ticket gate at Narita Airport, the system will only deduct the base fare (around 1,270 yen). You must still go to a ticket machine or a Keisei counter to purchase the separate "Skyliner Ticket" (the reservation) for an additional 1,300 yen. In 2026, many travelers find it easier to buy a "Skyliner e-ticket" online in advance or use the "Skyliner + Suica" bundles available at the airport. If you try to board the train with only a Suica tap, the conductor will find you on the train and require you to pay the surcharge in cash or via a handheld terminal. For a truly "tap-and-go" experience without surcharges, you would need to take the slower Keisei "Access Express" or "Limited Express" (non-Skyliner) trains, which are fully covered by a single Suica tap.
