Can I use United miles to pay for seats?

You can now use miles on domestic flights* to pay for a preferred seat or Economy Plus seat after making a reservation. You can also use miles to pay for a seat after purchasing a Basic Economy ticket. The best part about earning miles is using them for the things you love.
