On a Disney Cruise Line (DCL) ship, parents are generally not allowed to stay in the youth clubs, such as the Oceaneer Club and Oceaneer Lab, during secured programming hours. These spaces are designed as "kids-only" zones for children ages 3 to 10 to enjoy supervised independence under the care of trained youth counselors. However, DCL offers "Open House" sessions throughout the cruise, which are specifically designated times when the youth clubs are open to guests of all ages. During an Open House, parents are encouraged to explore the high-tech play areas, themed rooms (like the Marvel Super Hero Academy or Star Wars: Cargo Bay), and participate in activities with their children. Outside of these times, parents must drop off their children at the secure entrance, where children are scanned in using their "Oceaneer Band." For families with toddlers, the "it's a small world" nursery is available for a fee, but it also functions as a drop-off service rather than a stay-and-play area. The Open House is the best way for parents to see the "magic" for themselves.
