Can there be fresh water on an island?

If it's a large enough island, it may also have a water table (fresh water in porous rocks deep underground), which can be tapped by digging wells, or may come out of the ground spontaneously as springs. Such groundwater is rain that fell long ago and eventually percolated down through the ground.
