If your dates are not available, you can add Disney Genie + to your tickets one day at a time once you're in the parks and it will NOT affect your theme park reservations.

If you're visiting Disney World, Genie+ must be purchased on the day of your visit. At Disney Land, you can add Genie+ in advance. Download the My Disney Experience app to access your park tickets and add Genie+ to each ticket.

Can Genie+ sell out? Yes. It can. Although it isn't common, we've seen it happen a few times during busier times of the year (like over the holidays and Spring Break).

Let me describe the difference between Disney Genie+ and Individual Lightning Lanes. Disney Genie+ is a magical upgrade to your ticket that allows you to select Lightning Lane entrances at over 40 attractions throughout the theme parks. These Lightning Lane entrances allow you to skip the regular standby line.

Genie Plus is definitely worth it for Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios, and if you don't like early starts, you might consider it for Epcot and Animal Kingdom. If you are park hopping, Genie+ is even better value as it maximises the number of rides you have access to.

Walt Disney World Genie Plus SOLD OUT! Recently the service sold out on April 6, 2023; April 5, 2023; and April 4, 2023 around or before 10 am ET on all days. The service was being sold for $35 per person per guest on April 4. This is one of the most crowded times of the year at Walt Disney World.

And no matter how many theme parks you visit, you can only purchase two Individual Lightning Lane passes per day. In addition, like standard Genie+ rides, you can't buy passes more than once for the same ride.

The 120-minute rule is determined by when you make the reservation, not the return time for the attraction. So if you both log on at 9 AM to make a reservation for different attractions, you will both have to wait 120 minutes (or after riding the attraction, whichever comes first) to make your next selections.

Is Disney Lightning Lane Worth it Conclusion. As a general rule of thumb we do find the Disney World Lightning Lane to be worth it if you can find a way to save 60 minutes per attraction at a cost of under $11.00 per attraction.

The Genie 120-minute rule says that you can make a new reservation at most 2 hours from when you made the last one, and this countdown timer doesn't change if you modify the reservation. If you made it at, say, 11 a.m., then your two hours will be up at 1 p.m. even if you modify the reservation at noon.

You can only use Genie+ on each attraction one time per day. So, if you book an early morning pass for Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, use it, and then want to ride Thunder Mountain again later in the day…you'll need to wait in the standby line. So keep that in mind during your trip!
