Drinking/possession of alcohol on Hilton Head's public beaches is illegal and could result in a fine of up to $500. If you are going to purchase alcohol, don't wait until Sunday! Liquor by the bottle is not sold on Sundays in South Carolina, though you can buy wine and beer in some gas stations and supermarkets.
Surfside Beach is conveniently located in the heart of the South Carolina Grand Strand. There are approximately 2 miles of pristine beaches within walkable, bike-friendly neighborhoods with easy access to shopping, its library, parks, restaurants and other recreation.
Camping is not permitted on the beach within the Village of Surfside Beach boundaries. Camping is permitted on the county beach located east of the city limits at Beach Access Entrance 1, located about 4.0 miles east of Highway 332 on County Road 257 (Bluewater Highway).
No glass or alcohol is allowed on the beach or at beach accesses. Swimmers must stay within 50 yards of the shore and may not swim in water more than chest deep. Swimmers must obey lifeguard flags at all times.
