You can purchase regular, multi-day tickets and then add Genie+ day by day on each day of your trip via the Disneyland app. You can only purchase it once you have entered a theme park for the day.
Disney Genie+ service is available for purchase before your visit—as an add-on with new ticket or vacation package purchases—or may be available as a single-day purchase for existing ticket holders through the Disneyland app on the day of your park visit after park entry.
Can Genie+ sell out? Yes. It can. Although it isn't common, we've seen it happen a few times during busier times of the year (like over the holidays and Spring Break).
Let me describe the difference between Disney Genie+ and Individual Lightning Lanes. Disney Genie+ is a magical upgrade to your ticket that allows you to select Lightning Lane entrances at over 40 attractions throughout the theme parks. These Lightning Lane entrances allow you to skip the regular standby line.
Disney World attendees can only add Genie+ to their tickets on the day of their visit, beginning at 12 AM. If you're visiting Disney Land in California, you can also add Genie+ to your single or multi-day tickets before your visit.
Disneyland Genie+ is a paid service that allows guests to skip the longer standby line for attractions at both Disneyland Resort Parks. Guests can use Disney Genie+ to make a reservation to return to ride.
There is no paper-based or non-phone way to use Genie+. Genie+ is sold on a per-person basis, not per family. If you want everyone in your family to have access to Genie+ reservations, make sure you select each family member when you're buying Genie+ that day.
You can purchase Genie+ day by day on each day of your trip using the My Disney Experience app. Genie+ is available for purchase when the clock strikes midnight on the day of your visit, but you don't need to stay up late (instead, just wake up about 15 minutes early to secure it before the 7 a.m. selection process).
Walt Disney World Genie Plus is the current iteration of the original FastPass system. Typically this paid FastPass service does not sell out at Walt Disney World though it has happened during the busiest seasons.
A person can purchase Disney Genie+ service and book Genie+ Lightning Lane attractions for anyone that appears on their Family and Friends List in My Disney Experience.
You may be out of luck for purchasing Individual Lightning Lanes for any attraction if you're staying offsite on high crowd days. Rise of the Resistance used to be the clear winner of the popularity contest here, and that doesn't hold true anymore either. At all crowd levels, Flight of Passage sells out first.
The Disney Genie+ costs between $16 – $35 depending on when you visit Walt Disney World with their date-based pricing. As of June 2023, Disney World has included a new pricing model which gives guests a range of options to choose from.
