As of early 2024, Delta Air Lines implemented very strict rules regarding Sky Club access for those traveling on Basic Economy (E) tickets. Passengers flying on a Basic Economy fare are not allowed to access the Delta Sky Club, regardless of whether they have a premium credit card (like the Amex Platinum or Delta Reserve) or even if they hold high-level Medallion status. This change was part of Delta's effort to reduce overcrowding in their lounges and to differentiate their fare classes further. Previously, some cardholders could still enter while flying Basic Economy, but that door has been firmly shut. If lounge access is important to you, you must book at least a Main Cabin ticket. Even then, access isn't guaranteed unless you have the required membership or credit card. This policy serves as a significant deterrent for frequent flyers considering the lowest-priced fare, as it strips away one of the most valued perks of the airport experience.
