Journey Behind the Falls is a year-round attraction that offers a unique view of the Falls from below and behind. Visitors descend 125 ft. by elevator, where a short tunnel gives access to two outdoor observation decks and two portals located directly behind the Falls.

The two experiences, Canada (truly behind the falls) and the US (bottom of the falls) are very different. If you can only do one AND you have done one of the boats (Maid of the Mist if on the American side), then do the Behind the Falls on the Canadian side.

In Niagara Falls Canada you can always take the easy way down into the gorge by stopping at the “White Water Walk” and ride the elevator to the bottom of the gorge. That's fine if you are short on time but for a better experience a hike down into the gorge is definitely the best way to enjoy the area.

the us side is much less expensive, but with the kids, you might want to stay on the canadian side cause there is more to do. you could even look into staying in buffalo, its close, only a 20 minute drive, and theres lots to do there, but i would only do that if cost is a big player.

The two tunnels, which extend approximately 150 feet (46 meters) behind Horseshoe Falls, lead to views of water cascades right in front of the open cave entrances. The best part is stepping out on the observation deck for a truly different and incredible perspective—you will get very wet, but it's worth it!
