Can you go to Magic Kingdom in the rain?

Rain Doesn't Close the Parks, Almost Ever In general, Disney World is a 365 day a year operation.

Yes, you can absolutely visit Magic Kingdom in the rain, and for many "pro" travelers in 2026, it is actually a preferred time to be in the park. While outdoor thrill rides like Seven Dwarfs Mine Train or Big Thunder Mountain will close if lightning is detected within a certain radius, the vast majority of attractions—such as Pirates of the Caribbean, Haunted Mansion, and Space Mountain—are entirely indoors and remain fully operational. Rain often causes large crowds of casual tourists to leave, resulting in significantly shorter wait times. Disney also offers the "Rainy Day Cavalcade" as a substitute for standard parades if the weather is too wet for the performers. As long as you are prepared with a high-quality poncho, waterproof footwear, and a sense of adventure, a rainy day at Magic Kingdom can be one of the most efficient and memorable ways to experience the park's magic.

If the rain isn't heavy and there isn't danger of lightning, our best advice is to put on a poncho and keep moving! Indoor attractions will be open, and the lines typically get shorter during rainstorms.

Most of the other rides — along with plenty of restaurants and shops — are located in Future World and are relatively close together so you wouldn't have to walk far in the rain.

A notable “exception” is Tower of Terror, which can (ironically) operate through severe weather. With no lightning, its incredibly rare for heavy rain to shut down a ride for very long, if for no other reason than exceptionally heavy rain usually just can't fall that long.
