Myrtle Beach and North Myrtle Beach allow only traditional umbrellas between Memorial Day and Labor Day. (Shibumi beach shades are allowed after Labor Day). Horry County, SC allows only traditional umbrellas year round.

Shading devices, other than circular umbrellas with a circular shade no greater than seven feet six inches (7'6”) in diameter and small pop-up/blow-up cabanas no larger than 4' x 3' x 3' for infants and very small children, are not permitted on the beach (year-round).
Leave your Shibumi Shades and canopies at home. During the summer, most area beaches only allow cabanas big enough for toddlers and shade umbrellas. This is to let people farther from the water enjoy the view. The one exception is Surfside Beach, which welcomes shade devices smaller than 10 feet by 10 feet.

No glass or alcohol is allowed on the beach or at beach accesses. Swimmers must stay within 50 yards of the shore and may not swim in water more than chest deep. Swimmers must obey lifeguard flags at all times. Thong bathing suits are prohibited.

But to the Shibumi's floating fabric, the wind is a friend. It only takes about a 3 mph breeze to keep the free end of the fabric afloat and provide the shade beachgoers want. The shade does have its limits: Winds above 20 mph are too strong, and calm conditions can prevent the fabric from floating up off the ground.
As WW indicated, our beaches are full with them so a unique identifier could be helpful. We have been to HIlton Head twice this year and tents and Shibumi's are allowed. North Myrtle Beach is a different story. They do not allow tents or Shibumi's from Memorial day to 2nd week in September.
Alcohol is NOT allowed on the beach. Glass containers and bottles are NOT allowed on the beach. It is illegal to disturb or damage the dunes, the sand fencing or the sea grass oats. Stay on the boardwalks and marked paths!
