You wont' need a car for your stay. There are plenty of taxis, ferries, jitneys etc available for you. If you want to explore the island for a day, you can rent a scooter, or a car for 1 day. Driving in the bahamas is not easy.

I would say the big difference is in the size. I would compare Freeport more to a larger city and Bimini to a small pretty laidback Caribbean Island. Night and day really imo. Bimini is MUCH smaller and has less in the way of shopping, dining, activities.
