Can you pay by card in Wadi Rum?

PAYMENT IN WADI RUM There is no ATM and no exchange office in Wadi Rum. We cannot take payment by credit card. In Wadi Rum, payment can be made by cash in Euros, USD and Jordanian Dinars, although we prefer Jordanian dinars.

Adult tickets are 5JD and children under 12 enter for free. Visitors entering in 4WD rental cars will be asked to pay an additional 25JD, however non-4WD vehicles enter for free. Furthermore, if you have the Jordan Pass ticket you do not have to pay the entrance fee.

Part of the reason that camping in Wadi Rum is so affordable during the initial booking process is that the guides running the camps make a good chunk of their money selling Jeep tours and camel rides. This is simply part of the process, and nothing to be worried about at all–but it helps to know what to expect.

However, should you decide to visit some of the local attractions, tours or shopping, you will need money. You'll find that merchants on the island do accept most major credit cards, though we recommend some cash for smaller, local merchants and restaurants who may require cash. Taxis in The Bahamas will require cash.

Alcohol is legal, but heavily taxed For example, it's illegal to sell alcohol anywhere in the country during Ramadan (with the exception of some high-end hotels), and most camps in Wadi Rum don't serve alcohol at all (but you can often bring your own).

You will have phone signal in Wadi Rum village, but shortly after heading into the desert the signal will drop. How will I charge my phone / camera? Although the camp is off grid, we have solar power. In the evening after your tour you can use the power in the communal tent to charge your devices.

March and the two first weeks of November are the best months to visit Wadi Rum, as they are not too frequented and the weather is pleasant. But the best time to visit Wadi Rum depends also on your expectations; if you want to escape crowded times, you should come in winter or summer.

Spring and autumn are the most popular times to visit Wadi Rum, so expect to see many tourists at the popular sites. In March and November the nights can still be pretty cold with a minimum temperature of 5 °C (41 °F), but in the other months night temperatures rise up to 13 °C (55 °F).
