Can you pay with your MagicBand if you are not staying at a Disney hotel?

You can't charge anything to the Band if you're not staying on-site as the charges aren't actually charged directly to the Band they are charged to your room and then you pay the balance when you reach the limit are you check out, whichever comes first. Or you pay the balance whenever you want as you go.
