Can you pick your Genie Plus time?

How do you select a time window for a Genie+ attraction? For Genie+ attractions, navigate to your Tip Board where you can only book the next available time window, which could be as soon as five minutes later or hours away. You cannot make them in advance for times that are later in the day.

In 2026, the service formerly known as "Genie+" has been rebranded as the Lightning Lane Multi Pass, and the rules for selecting times have changed for the better. Unlike the old system where you were forced to take the "next available" time, the new Multi Pass system allows you to pick a specific time slot from a limited selection of available windows when you make your initial three advance reservations. If you are staying at a Disney Resort, you can even make these selections up to 7 days in advance of your check-in. Once you are in the park and have used your first selection, you can then book additional rides one-by-one; at this stage, you are typically offered the "next available" time, but the app allows you to modify that selection to a later time if one is open. This added flexibility allows families to better plan their day around dining reservations and parades rather than being at the mercy of a "random" return clock.

The Genie 120-minute rule says that you can make a new reservation at most 2 hours from when you made the last one, and this countdown timer doesn't change if you modify the reservation.

What's the 120 minute rule? The way Genie+ ride reservations work is that you can book one at a time, and can either make another selection after two hours (120 minutes) or once you tap into your previous Genie+ selection (both tapstiles at attractions that have two)—whichever comes first.

You may be out of luck for purchasing Individual Lightning Lanes for any attraction if you're staying offsite on high crowd days. Rise of the Resistance used to be the clear winner of the popularity contest here, and that doesn't hold true anymore either. At all crowd levels, Flight of Passage sells out first.

MORE DETAILS

The 120-minute rule is determined by when you make the reservation, not the return time for the attraction. So if you both log on at 9 AM to make a reservation for different attractions, you will both have to wait 120 minutes (or after riding the attraction, whichever comes first) to make your next selections.

All guests, regardless of where they stay, are limited to a maximum of two pay-per-ride attractions per day and can only book a particular ride once per day. What about Annual Passholders? Annual Passholders will need to purchase Genie+ on the day(s) of their visit.

Can Genie+ sell out? Yes. It can. Although it isn't common, we've seen it happen a few times during busier times of the year (like over the holidays and Spring Break).

MORE DETAILS

Yes, regardless on where you are staying, you can start making Disney Genie+ attraction reservations at 7 am. It does not matter if you can't check in until 4 pm, or when you get your room, everyone can start booking in the morning.
