Can you see Cinque Terre without hiking?

There are three ways to visit Cinque Terre: by boat, by train, or a combination of boat and/or train and hiking.

Yes, you can absolutely see the stunning beauty of Cinque Terre without ever setting foot on a hiking trail. The most popular and efficient way to explore the five villages is by using the Cinque Terre Express train, which runs frequently between La Spezia and Levanto, stopping at Riomaggiore, Manarola, Corniglia, Vernazza, and Monterosso. The train stations are located right in or very near the heart of each village (with the exception of Corniglia, which requires a short shuttle bus or a climb up the Lardarina stairs from the station). Alternatively, during the warmer months, you can take a ferry that hops between the villages (except Corniglia, which has no water access), offering a spectacular view of the colorful houses from the sea. For those who prefer private travel, taxi boats are available, and while driving is discouraged due to extremely limited parking and narrow roads, there are bus services that connect the higher points of the towns to the main centers.
