Hike the Devils Garden Trail to Landscape Arch. If you have the energy, hike the 4.5-mile (round trip) Double O Arch Trail to see all six arches. After a snack, double back along Scenic Drive to the Windows section for a short, 1-mile hike to see three of the largest arches in the park.

Primitive Trail at Devil's Garden This is the longest and most challenging continually maintained trail in Arches National Park. After reaching Landscape Arch the trail gets a little more rugged as you climb over sandstone slabs and walk on narrow ledges and exposed fins.

There are cairns that guide the way up to Delicate Arch. Do be aware that when you get close to the Arch there is a 4 or 5 foot wide ledge with a significant drop-off. If you have a fear of heights that part of the hike can be scary. When you get near the Arch there are also some edges you will need to be careful of.

Sunset was at about 8:30 and you'll need to stay until about 10:30 for adequate darkness. We saw clusters of stars in deep space that we'd never seen before. The walk down in the dark was exhilarating and the cairns marked the trail well. This is one of the country's best NPs, and I highly recommend this exercise.
