Can you see the Eiffel Tower from anywhere in Paris?

The Eiffel Tower, being one of the tallest structures in the city, can be seen from almost all corners of the city. Though nothing compares to the view from the Eiffel Tower Summit, viewing the monument from some specific locations will transport you to a fantastical landscape.

Parc du Champ-de-Mars In the 7th arrondissement, just in front of the Eiffel Tower is a lovely green-space called the Champ-de-Mars. It's a wide-open lawn with spectacular Eiffel Tower views and the perfect place to bring a picnic or bottle of wine.

For the best approach, we recommend taking the Metro to the stop Trocadéro, which is on the other side of the Seine. From here, you can enjoy the best view of the Eiffel Tower before you get there.

Can you walk beneath the Eiffel Tower without paying for a ticket? Yes. The Eiffel Tower gardens and esplanade are fully accessible without a ticket, i.e. for free.

With seven hours, you should be able to get into Paris and see the Eiffel Tower if you know exactly where to go and how to get around. It would be tight, though. I wouldn't try to do anything more than that, unless losing your connection would not be a big deal (hourly flights or something like that).

The Tower lights and beacon are lit up every evening from dusk until 11.45pm. As soon as it gets dark, the Eiffel Tower's golden lighting switches on automatically within less than 10 minutes, thanks to light-sensitive twilight sensors. Simply check an almanac to find out what time the monument will light up.

By all means, go to the top if you have the time (skip it if your schedule's tight). But I prefer to linger on the second floor: For me, the best views are from this middle level — high enough to see all of Paris, but low enough to pick out distinguishing landmarks.
