Can you swim in Colorado?

If you're craving a summer water vacation, head inland. What Colorado lacks in ocean, it makes up for in crazy swimming holes, alpine lakes, waterfalls, and hot springs. Although you can't go surfing, there are plenty of different ways to get wet. If you want adventure, we've got cliff jumping (leap at your own risk).

Cherry Creek Reservoir is one of the very popular swimming lakes in Colorado. It's located at Cherry Creek State Park in Aurora, less than a half-hour south from Denver. It's similar in amenities to Chatfield since it has a beach area, boat ramps, and you can paddle board, kayak, and jet ski here too!

The water flows through and turns the turbines and then flows out into the Colorado River. Because the water intake is significantly below the surface of Lake Powell, the water coming out of the outflow is significantly colder than surface temperatures.

Other domestic animals or pets are prohibited below the rim. Traps and nets are prohibited. A valid fishing license is required for all fishing. Because of their sensitive and sometimes dangerous nature, entry and/or exploration of any caves or mines must be approved in advance through Grand Canyon National Park.
