Can you swim in Devils Pool in June?

Devil's Pool is only open during the drier months, usually between mid-August and late December. This will vary from year to year. The Zambezi River water levels have to be low enough to be able to safely swim.

No, you generally cannot swim in Devil’s Pool in June. Devil’s Pool is a natural infinity pool located right at the edge of Victoria Falls on the Zambian side, but it is highly seasonal. During June, the Zambezi River is typically at its "high water" peak or just beginning to recede. The volume of water crashing over the falls during this time is so immense and the current so powerful that it would be physically impossible—and fatal—to enter the pool, as the water would simply sweep you over the 100-meter drop. The pool only becomes safe for swimming during the "low water" season, which usually starts in mid-August and lasts until early January. In June, even the boat tours to Livingstone Island (where the pool is located) are often suspended because the water levels are too dangerous for the transfer. If you visit in June, you will see the falls at their most thunderous and spectacular from the viewpoints, but the swimming experience is strictly off-limits. For those visiting in June who still want a "top of the falls" experience, operators sometimes offer "Angel’s Pool" earlier in the season, but even that is often closed during the peak flow of June.
