The most well-known swimming pigs experience on a Bahamas cruise involves getting in the water with feral pigs on Pig Beach, located on an island in the Exuma district. But for cruisers, the activity almost always features trained domesticated pigs on small islands much closer to Nassau and Freeport.

Where are the swimming pigs? The Bahamas' beach pigs live on Big Major Cay, one of the over 365 islands in Exuma, a district of the Bahamas. Also known as Pig Beach (for obvious reasons), the island is about 82 miles southeast of Nassau, and about 50 miles northwest of George Town.

We went for the first group of pigs in the morning and they were so excited to see us. The pigs don't have to participate, but there were plenty that loved the apples and being pet. The guides were so fun and entertaining and we enjoyed the quick boat ride as well. I'd highly recommend.

The cheapest way to go swimming with pigs is to visit Rose Island which has swimming pigs and it is just a short 25 minute boat ride away from downtown Nassau.
