Can you take a backpack on rides at Dollywood?

Space. The rides at Dollywood do not allow visitors to bring backpacks, either for safety reasons or due to limited space. In these cases, you would have to leave your backpack unattended or use a locker temporarily.

Dollywood's gates open at 10 a.m., so try to arrive at least fifteen minutes prior to that. If you are there when the gates open, you will experience the mad dash as everybody sprints to different attractions around the park. Pick your favorite ride and dash to it.

Some attractions, especially coasters, have a small net pocket on the back of the seat in front of you for storing your bag. Rock-n-Roller Coaster is one example of an attraction that uses this method. With this attraction, you would not be able to fit a large backpack in the net, but you could fit a small purse.

Dollywood does not permit visitors to bring food or drinks into the park, although attendees are welcome to leave to eat elsewhere and return that same day. Otherwise, a variety of excellent options for dining and snacks are available onsite.

Tote bags can also be great to bring, as long as you don't overfill them. Make sure your tote bag has a zipper on the top, so your belongings will be safe when you go on roller coasters. If you've got an open schedule and can afford to plan your whole trip around the best time to visit Dollywood, opt for April or September, both sunny and beautiful times of year without being too hot. (Make sure if you go in spring to avoid Spring Break week, though.)
