Can you take a dog on a train in Germany?

They must be transported in a carrier that fits below the seat or on the shelf above. Large Pets: larger pets can travel on trains with a special pet fare, but they must be on a leash and wear a muzzle.

For cross-border journeys, you are required to buy a child's second-class ticket for your dog. Seats cannot be reserved for dogs on Deutsche Bahn trains and they do not issue mobile e-tickets for pets. Deutsche Bahn will send the ticket to you by post, or you can buy it directly at the train station.
