Can you take backpacks on rides at Disneyland?

You Can Bring a Backpack to Disney Parks With the exception of a couple attractions, every ride at Disney will have a small pouch for you to stow your backpack, or space at your feet. Your trusty bag can take on all the adventures Disney has to offer with you!

At Disneyland Resort (California) and Disneyland Paris in 2026, you can bring backpacks on nearly every attraction. Unlike some theme parks that require you to use lockers, Disney ride vehicles are designed with enough floor space or mesh "pouch" compartments to accommodate a standard-sized backpack. You typically place the bag at your feet or pull the lap bar over it to keep it secure. The only notable exception is Grizzly River Run at Disney California Adventure, where free lockers are provided for a limited time because your items will get soaked. In 2026, Disney enforces a strict bag size limit for park entry: bags must not exceed 24" long x 15" wide x 18" high. While you can carry your bag on rides, it is advised to use a bag that zips shut to prevent items from falling out during high-speed maneuvers on rides like Space Mountain or the Incredicoaster. For larger items that cannot fit on rides, rental lockers are available near the park entrances and on Main Street U.S.A.

If it's small enough on many of Disney's rides you don't even need to take your purse off, which is a plus cause you'll never lose it. Or if you're a minimalist, like me, use a fanny pack or bum bag. I'm in love with this colorful Mouse Ear fanny pack. Make sure it's big enough to fit everything you need for the day.

I've worn both. I wear fanny packs/bumbags as sling bags - they will usually have you remove a fanny pack if it's actually around your waist, for a ride (they'll have you remove a backpack as well, or any bag that is between you and a lap bar). It's really not inconvenience though.
