Can you take bags on Universal Hollywood rides?

Are bags and other personal items allowed on rides and attractions? Some of our rides and attractions can accommodate personal items. However, we strongly suggest bringing small bags with you to better expedite your time at the Front Gate security checkpoint and at each attraction.

At Universal Studios Hollywood in 2026, the policy for bags on rides is a mix of "bring them with you" and "mandatory lockers." For many attractions, such as The Secret Life of Pets: Off the Leash or the Studio Tour, you can simply keep your bag at your feet. However, for high-thrill or "loose-article" sensitive rides like Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey or the Revenge of the Mummy, you are strictly prohibited from taking bags on the ride. For these attractions, Universal provides complimentary lockers located near the ride entrance for the duration of your wait and ride time. These lockers are operated using your park ticket or a biometric scan. In 2026, with the opening of Super Nintendo World, similar restrictions apply to high-movement areas of Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge. If your bag is larger than a standard backpack (anything with wheels is banned from the park entirely), it will not fit in the free lockers, and you may be forced to pay for a larger "all-day" locker located at the front of the park.
