Can you take pictures in Neuschwanstein Castle?

The visit of Neuschwanstein Castle is only possible with a guided tour. Rucksacks, prams, child carriers, and similar bulky objects may not be taken into the castle. Please leave these items in your car or bus. No photographing or filming is allowed in the castle.

However, you are free to take as many pictures as you like of the castle's exterior and the surrounding grounds. The best photo spots are from the Marienbrücke (Mary's Bridge) or from the various hiking trails that offer a panoramic view of the "fairytale" towers. For those who want memories of the interior, the gift shop sells high-quality postcards and books that feature professional photography of King Ludwig II's throne room and bedroom, which are the only legal ways to obtain images of the inside.
