Disney's Animal KingdomAs such, animal lovers will likely spend more time here than basic theme park lovers. What is this? During your first visit(s), you'll want to do as much as you possibly can. On an average day, you can experience all the ride-based attractions in six or seven hours.
Many write off Animal Kingdom as a half-day park or a glorified zoo. This park is indeed a premier animal care facility, but the attractions are as good as any of the other parks in Walt Disney World.
For anyone who has spent time in Animal Kingdom, you may notice some HUGE differences from the rest of Disney World's parks! In addition to the fact that it's got legit live animals, this is also the ONLY park that doesn't have fireworks. It's a policy that likely won't change, either, for good reason. Here's why!
There are a total of 173 rides at Disney World Orlando. There are 41 rides at Magic Kingdom, 42 at Epcot, 17 at Disney's Hollywood Studios, and 46 at Animal Kingdom.
Unlike Up Close With Rhinos, which allows you to “meet” Animal Kingdom's white rhinos, you will not get close to the elephants. The viewing area gets you closer than you will get on Kilimanjaro Safari, but not close. Emma told us not to raise our arms or call out to the elephants.
A lot of this has to do with the fact that Animal Kingdom is home to many different animals that require care. This requires the park to close earlier than others so cast members can care for the animals and prepare for the next day.

Full day park if you want to do everything & savor it. With good crowds, and doing almost everything, Animal Kingdom is like a 85% of your day park. Magic Kingdom is like a day and a half park.
While Disney has found ways to extend the fun into the afternoon and evening hours, most of the animals viewed here are far more active, and therefore visible, in the morning. I strongly recommend you arrive at the park at opening time, or as soon afterwards as possible, to maximize your visit.

What will stand out to you is the view! All you have to do is look outside your window or step outside on the balcony and you might see some giraffes or zebras walk by or wake up to any of the many tropical birds that call Animal Kingdom Lodge their home.
Too few Walt Disney World fans know about the Kiss Goodnight at Magic Kingdom. If you just thought, “what's that?” you're not alone. The Kiss Goodnight is a little over 2-minutes long, and it is WDW's way of saying “goodbye” (or “go home!” depending upon your perspective) to guests at the end of a long day in the park.
I'm very happy to report that you're more than welcome to use your smartphone or personal camera to take pictures with the characters at the Walt Disney World Resort. In fact, I do it all the time!
