Can you use Chase points for Amtrak?

Although you can't book Amtrak tickets through Chase Ultimate Rewards, you can use Chase Ultimate Rewards to book the hotel that awaits you at the end of your journey.

In 2026, you cannot directly transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards points to Amtrak Guest Rewards, as the two are no longer 1:1 transfer partners. However, you can still use your Chase points to book Amtrak travel by using the Chase Travel Portal. By searching for "Trains" or "Tours" within the portal, you can pay for your Amtrak tickets using points at a rate of 1.25 cents per point (for Sapphire Preferred) or 1.5 cents per point (for Sapphire Reserve). Alternatively, you can pay for your ticket with your Chase card and then use the "Pay Yourself Back" feature or a statement credit redemption, though this usually offers a lower value of 1 cent per point. For those who want to maximize Amtrak-specific perks, the Amtrak Guest Rewards Credit Card remains the only direct way to earn points specifically for "Points & Cash" redemptions on their official website.

Amtrak points are worth more than most other reward currencies, with each point worth about 2.9c toward most train fares (or 2.56 on Acela fares). That means that the 40K offer on the Amtrak Rewards Preferred card will buy you well over $1,000 in train tickets (nearly $1200 on non-Acela service!).

Amtrak credit cards will no longer be issued by Bank of America (BofA). Instead, they will be issued by FNBO (First National Bank of Omaha).
