Can you walk between terminals at SLC?

Walking. Both concourses within the secure area are interlinked via an underground tunnel, so passengers do not have to exit and re-clear security for flight connections unless arriving on an international flight. The image above shows the distances and average walking times between concourses.

It turns out, the walk to the furthest B-Gate is 3,350 feet, which is roughly 0.64 miles. The mid-course tunnel itself is about 1,200 feet, which measures about a quarter mile. There is no doubt those distances can be difficult for the elderly and less mobile.

With an on time arrival one hour will be plenty of time. You probably have enough slack to absorb a 20-25 minute delay and just about make your connection. If there's a schedule change and the connection time falls I'd consider asking for different flights, but for now you should be fine.

There is one terminal and two concourses (A & B). A short-term parking terrace sits adjacent to the terminal. Rental car companies are located in the Gateway Center adjacent to the parking garage. Long-term parking is located south and west of the terminal buildings and is serviced by shuttle buses.

The recommended layover time for international flights is generally longer, as you will have to go through customs and immigration before boarding your next flight. In most cases, a 30-minute layover for domestic flights and an hour for international flights is considered a minimum, or short, layover.

as with most things, it depends. If you are changing airlines, or going from a domestic to an international flight, chances are, you need to change terminals so probably not. If both flights are demistic, and in the same airline, both are probably in the same terminal so it's tight, but doable.

If your itinerary was purchased as one ticket (as in: you have only one itinerary and one confirmation number), and the connection time was too short and you miss the second (or third) flight, you can rest easy, no matter what happens. The airline will simply put you onto the next available flight, free of charge.

Generally speaking, most airlines will make some kind of efforts to wait for delayed passengers on a connecting flight, though this is not necessarily guaranteed. In some cases, airlines may be able to hold a connecting flight for a period of time, but it is not something that is typically guaranteed by any airline.

In general, if you are on board, they will hold for late passengers. If you are dashing for it, they won't hold it. Anybody who is persistently anxious about tight connections shouldn't ticket them.
