Can you wear skates at Disney World?

Unfortunately, the Walt Disney World Resort Property Rules state that skateboards, scooters, inline skates, or shoes with built-in wheels are not permitted at Walt Disney World Resort. However, I do have another suggestion for a unique way to explore the paths at several resort hotels.

No, you cannot wear skates, inline skates, or any other recreational wheeled devices at Walt Disney World in 2026. Disney's official property rules strictly prohibit skateboards, scooters, inline skates, and "Heelys" (shoes with built-in wheels) inside the theme parks, water parks, and the Disney Springs area. This policy is primarily for the safety of both the wearer and the thousands of other guests navigating the crowded walkways. If a guest arrives at the security checkpoint wearing skates or wheeled shoes, they will be asked to remove them or retract the wheels before entering. While bicycles are permitted in very specific designated areas of certain Disney Resort hotels (like Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort), they are also banned from the theme parks. Proper footwear, consisting of standard shoes and shirts, must be worn at all times to ensure a safe experience on attractions and moving walkways. For those looking to get around with assistance, only wheelchairs, recognized mobility scooters (ECVs), and strollers meeting specific size requirements (31" wide by 52" long) are permitted on the grounds.

While we love the classic style of Converse, the lack of cushioning is not ideal for a full park day. Converse shoes are known for going with almost everything outfit-wise, but it's not worth it to walk around the parks all day with no cushioning for the bottom of your feet.

While shoes must be worn, there is no specific footwear requirement for attractions within Walt Disney World Resort theme parks, although skates or shoes with wheels are prohibited. I have seen Guests wearing everything from basic flip-flops to stilettos. (Though I do not recommend either of those options!)

While there are height requirements, Disney World rides do not have weight limits. We reached out to the Magical Kingdom for confirmation! Disney World assured us that no theme park attractions have weight limits. However, many rides feature restraint devices which may prevent some guests from being able to ride.

Strapless Tops Go with a tank top instead! This also applies to other kinds of tops that aren't super secure, like smaller tops that tie on. In fact, Disney might not even let you into the park with a top like this on, because it's against the dress code.

No need to remove it: Just sling your fanny pack to the side or your backside when taking a photo or entering an attraction. Disney allows guests to wear fanny packs during rides. Carry-on: Most airlines allow one carry-on bag and one personal item – such as a fanny pack – at no extra charge.
